Collecting Visual Representations and the Members of the Editorial Team

The research was conducted between January 2018 and December 2019:

1. in online databases such as Das GraphikportalDigitaler PortraitindexBildindex der Kunst und ArchitekturVirtuelles KupferstichkabinettBildarchiv AustriaLostART etc. as well as in interactive catalogues of coin cabinets such as that of the National Museums in Berlin and the numerous museum databases such as AlbertinaKHMGNM. Last but not least, numerous works were also found via Google and Wikicommons, although sometimes without indicating the place of storage.

2. in relevant secondary literature, such as John Roger Paas, The German Political Broadsheet 1600-1700, Wolfgang Harms, Deutsche Illustrierte Flugblätter des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts, Annelise Stemper, Die Medaillen der Pfalzgrafen und Kurfürsten bei Rhein etc. and various exhibition catalogues.

3. in archives. In the following museums, archives and libraries, the editor’s work was kindly supported by the staff: State Library and State Museums (Kupferstichkabinett) in Berlin, Art Collections of the Veste Coburg, State Art Collections Dresden, Historical Museum Frankfurt, Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg, Bavarian State Library and State Collection of Prints and Drawings in Munich, Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg and in Vienna Albertina, Belvedere, Federal Furniture Administration (Bundesmobilienverwaltung), KHM (departments Picture Gallery, Kunstkammer, Theatre Museum, Carriage Museum), Austrian National Library and Wien Museum.
